Hatcheck Kelly: The Streets of Evangeline
review by

It's big. It's in your face from page one. It has an edge sharp enough to shave with.

In an era when most computer generated comics are either Star Trek, elves, vampires or other trite same-old-same-olds MacManus has wandered back to the days of noir. Streets of Evangeline is set in the never-never land of dark mean streets, hot babes and murder, territory where Chandler or Hammett would feel right at home.

The story sprawls and the bullets fly, red herrings swim up stream dodging 'gators and clothes are frequently lost. It is a murder mystery with all the classic hard boiled elements. The author has gone for content with style and his readers are more than happy to go along for the ride.
